Q: What is a structured course?
Ans: In general terms, structured content is what qualifies for the continuing education or professional development credit at a professional’s governing body. The primary criteria for structured content are measurability and verifiability of the respective professional body's learning activities. Structured content is defined individually by each professional body and one should reference the respective professional body for clarification. CEPRO has structured content that meets the highest criteria and includes its proprietary software verifies the user and interactive training to ensure participation that monitors the progress of the professional to ensure completion and understanding as prescribed by professional bodies. CEPRO have had discussions with the various professional bodies and the functionality of CEPRO’s structured content has been accepted.
Q: Does member status have advantages?
Ans: Beyond the value added course training provides, CEPRO presents Founding and Executive Members discounts on the cost of courses and the ability to get courses for free. CEPRO Sponsors provide their products and services at discounted rates to our Founding and Executive Members. In addition, only the business of Founding and Executive Members are promoted by CEPRO. We know of no other continuing education site that supports its members in this way promoting their business. CEPROs mission is determining the needs of its members and provides those extra benefits.
Q: I bought a Lamad Hour and I am not an Executive member?
Ans: Although you may have received a CEPRO Hour or bought a Lamad Hour, you have to log out and re-log in for your membership to be updated. This is an additional security feature.
Q: What is the difference between CEPRO and other continuing professional development?
Ans: There are many differences between CEPRO and other continuing professional education offerings. Primarily, CEPRO adds value by providing application to technical content. There are many sources of technical information available for free and therefore to repackage it to deliver is not the goal of CEPRO. The value added by CEPRO is the education of the professional in the application of technical information. CEPRO will provide this primary through high quality multimedia formats. In addition, the cost of a CEPRO course is materially less than other sources, in many cases, there will be free courses offered to the Executive Members.
Q: What types of memberships does CEPRO have?
| Ans: We have found there are three ways people are interested in CEPRO; so we created three options.
No membership is required for the basic service for people who dont want to join CEPRO, they have likely come through Google search, want to look through the free information on the site and maybe purchase a course. They will pay full cost for all services and not have access to proprietary or fee based data.
Professional membership is an option for the professional who requires limited continuing education and have found some interest. This member has access to CEPRO Reporting as the only benefit for membership. This member would be an infrequent visitor to CEPRO.
Executive memberhip is the preferred option for the professional who will be sourcing research and continuing education actively. The only requirement is to keep a positive balance in the CEPRO or Lamad Hour accounts. This member will receive full benefits of the site including discount pricing on all services and courses in CEPRO. CEPRO Sponsors also provide Executive Members with free and discounted products and services. Only Executive Members will be eligible for the free course on the site.
Founding Member is an Executive member who, within a promotion period, purchased 20 Lamad Hours. This commitment is rewarded with never losing the Executive Member status regardless of CEPRO and Lamad Hour balances. In addition, a Founding Member will receive 20 CEPRO Hours free annually. Effectively, a Founding Member could receive all the required continuing education he/she needs annually, for free, forever. |
Q: What if I am not sure what membership I need?
Ans: There is a promotion period of 6 months whereby you will receive an Executive Membership after completing the orientation questionnaire. After that time, you must make your decision. This site will be built around the needs of the Executive Members.
Q: Why is the Founding Member the best choice?
Ans: Upon first becoming a member, if 20 Lamad Hours are purchased within the promotional time (this may depend on the promotion), the member will be promoted to a Founding Member. The Founding Member will never lose the Executive Member status negating the requirement to have a CEPRO or Lamad Hour balance. Founding Members get right of first refusal on all promotional offers. For example, if a CEPRO Sponsor offers CEPRO Members two free vacation packages as a promotion, Founding Members will have the first option to accept. In addition, a Founding Member will receive 20 CEPRO Hours free annually. Therefore, the first 20 hours you pay for continuing education may be the last time you ever pay for continuing education.
Q: What are CEPRO and Lamad Hours?
Ans: A CEPRO Hour is received when a member responds to promotional and marketing programs offered by CEPRO Sponsors. CEPRO Hours are received without payment and can be used for the purchase of structured courses. A Lamad Hour is purchased to redeem against structured courses. The reason for having a “credit” system is to avoid security challenges in the site and for ease of use on mobile devices.
Q: Can a site change, course or author be recommended?
Ans: Yes, there is a Suggestion section on the main menue to submit imporvements to the CEPRO site.
Q: Do I get anything for recommending anyone to your site?
Ans: We acknowledge CEPRO can only provide the best service with members who believe in the site. When an Executive Member joins CEPRO and uses your username as a reference, you will receive a complimentary CEPRO Hour.
Q: How do you pay for services/structured content?
Ans: Professional members purchase structured content on a pay as you go basis just like non-members; select a course you want to take then purchase. Executive Members have CEPRO or Lamad Hour balances to apply against the purchase. Very important to note is that many courses are free to Executive Members and all course are discounted for Executive Members.
Q: How will I know if the courses are eligible for professional credit?
Ans: We have endeavored to research professional requirements on various professional bodies to see what standards are in effect and believe our courses meet all accounting related continuing education requirements. Notwithstanding, in the same way you would ensure any conference or workshop meets the respective continuing education requirement, it is the responsibility of each member to ensure the course they select meets their respective professional body's requirements.
Q: What is CEPRO Account?
Ans: Your CEPRO Account is the location to purchase courses or Lamad Hours. The CEPRO Account also records all your transactions with the site.
Q: What CEPRO Reporting?
Ans: Your CEPRO Reporting records all the structured and unstructured courses taken on the CPERO site. It also allows the Executive member to record non-CEPRO structured and unstructured courses to have a complete listing of continuing education taken in the year. You can allow CEPRO to report your continuing education to your professional institute.
Q: What is the CEPRO Network?
Ans: The CEPRO Network is the social networking functionality of the site. It was created to assist specific needs of the Executive Members and is not expected to compete with sites such as LinkedIn or Facebook. The Executive Member can create groups with friends but the functionality expected to be added to the CEPRO Network is webinars, online meetings and conferences to a micro-community.
Q: What is CEPRO WebCam?
Ans: The CEPRO WebCam is a short upload of a personal video used as an informal introduction to the member site. It is against CEPRO Law to have this professionally produced. The purpose is informality to have a personal touch to the site. This video link can also be sent to friends or a group for status updates.
Q: What is a CEPRO Sponsor?
Ans: Many businesses that serve the professional community want to acknowledge the professionalism of their clients and wish to support their continued professional development. By offering discounted services and products to Executive Members who have proven their commitment to continued education, these businesses have partnered with CEPRO to advance the integrity of the profession and business community.
Q: What is CEPRO Research?
Ans: The CEPRO Research tab provides Executive Members with online databases, financial models and other necessary information. This information will be free in most circumstances but there will be fees charged for some services. For example, CEPRO will endeavor to get group rates on databases for Executive Members to participate in without financial cost.
Q: What is CEPRO Benefits?
Ans: This section of the Member home page lists all of the CEPRO Sponsors who have created special discounts and services for Executive Members.
Q: What is CEPRO Distractions?
Ans: The CEPRO Distractions tab will be a growing list of educational videos relating to hobbies and points of interest Executive members suggest. Health, travel, sports or whatever is of interest, CEPRO will seek out experts for topics suggested.
Q: Who can be an Author?
Ans: Anyone who has established an expertise or leadership in an area that meets a Professional body's requirements and standards will be able to publish on CEPRO. This is a self-assessing standard that encourages new and reputable authors to share their experience to advance professional knowledge and standards.
Q: What courses can an author publish?
Ans: All courses have to be in accordance with a Professional body or professional bodys competency requirements and standards. The author should publish a course that teaches, trains, and educates a professional in a manner that would enhance attributes that qualify for professional development and continuing education credit.
Q: Does the author get fees for publication?
Ans: The vast majority of contributors acknowledge the benefit of publishing for the marketing of their business or practice as well as advancing the profession and therefore do not request nor require stipends for the material they publish. However, CEPRO understands that many professionals may not take advantage of the exposure and therefore can negotiate fees for courses.
Q: How are courses to be formatted?
Ans: CEPRO has no editing preference for courses; we rely on the professionalism of the authors to provide course content in the structure that best educates and trains the member. CEPRO places only the requirements professional bodies adhere to; it must be new knowledge that is measurable. CEPRO looks forward to a variety of learning techniques and will be exploring all possible delivery methods.
Q: Can the author take his/her course off CEPRO?
Ans: Yes and No. Non-structured course content can be removed at will; structured courses cannot. The reason is that CEPRO or Lamad Hours may have been redeemed for the course but not yet taken. There may be an advertising commitment for the course. Therefore, the course will stay on CEPRO until the commitments have been satisfied. In absence of these commitments, the course can be removed at the author's request.
